Upcoming Howliday Hacks
Between Halloween candy and Thanksgiving feasts, there’s a lot to tempt our pups into
dangerous situations. Taking a proactive approach to preventing them from ingesting
harmful foods is key.
● Put your candy and treats in a sealed container. Give kids and family a
designated, sealed container to put all their candy and cookies and keep that
container on a top shelf or top cabinet.
● When guests are over, prepare a frozen Kong stuffed with yogurt, peanut butter,
and other treats to keep them busy in a separate room while everyone is over
munching human delicacies.
Top Trainer Tip
Being comfortable in a crate is a critical life skill. Whether you’re traveling or your dog
needs a short stay at the vet clinic for a surgery, making sure your dog loves the crate
can ease your concerns and reduce their anxiety.
The quickest way to help them establish a positive association with the crate?
Feed all their meals in their crate! Start this without closing the crate’s door. Your dog
will quickly learn that the crate delivers good experiences and you just might find them
resting in there by choice before you know it!
Today’s Pawsitively Inspiring Story
Jessica came to us overwhelmed by her dog Mitsy who barked
nonstop at neighbors and pulled on the leash during every walk. Despite trying various
methods, nothing worked. After working with us and addressing Mitsy’s
underlying triggers, Jessica now enjoys peaceful walks and a closer bond with her
dog. The transformation has brought them joy and strengthened their companionship.
Our dog reactivity training program was the perfect fit for her situation and we were able to uncover the root
causes behind her challenges. Now, they have a beautiful bond that will continue on for
years to come.
FAQ
“When I start working with you, will you come in and tell me not to let my dog in my bed?”
Unfortunately, this is a common assumption we hear before clients begin working with
us. It must stem from old school trains of thought about what a dog trainer does or
what people pick up from TV shows, but it couldn’t be further from the truth about what
it’s like to work with us. Instead, what you can expect is a deep dive into your values, the
role your dog plays in your life, and your dream relationship with your dog. This deep
dive allows us to understand what you’re looking to accomplish and how we can help
you and your dog live in harmony together based on your desired lifestyle and
activities. A blanket approach like “no dogs in bed” doesn’t align with the way we
approach dog training in any way.
